Port Moresby Nature Park has received a 25 seater PMV bus generously donated by Ela Motors as part of their Social Responsibility Program on education towards the Park’s School excursion program. The 25-seater bus is to replace a previously donated Hino Bus donated by Ela Motors in 2013.
The 25 seater bus will be used to transport school children from their schools to Port Moresby Nature Park so they can take part in the educational school excursion program ‘Come Explore With Us’.
On the support, Port Moresby Nature Park General Manager, Michelle McGeorge said, “In 2013, before we had a school bus only 4,115 students attended the Nature Park’s school excursion programs with majority of attendees being students from private schools with their own transportation.”
“Last year, through the use of our bus to transport students we were able to educate over 16,546 students and provide them with real science-based learning outcomes aimed at developing a deeper appreciation on PNG’s natural environment,” Ms McGeorge further added.
The bus will be impossible to miss as they drive around the streets of Port Moresby due to both being decorated with the Nature Park’s logo. The education bus has also been covered in cartoon PNG native animals which is sure to bring smiles to all that see it driving around town.
Ela Motors, CEO, Mr Takeshi Abe presented the keys to Port Moresby Nature Park during the official handover. Mr Abe said that Ela Motors were happy to support the Nature Park’s education program as it presented an exciting opportunity for children to learn about the natural sciences outside of the traditional classroom setting.
Ms McGeorge also thanked Ela Motors for their continued support of the Park since 2013 noting that the Park had only been able to achieve its developments due to the support of the business community.
